Day 317 - Green!

At school, they use a behavior rewards system where each kid gets a green card at the start of the day and if they misbehave it gets changed to yellow, blue, and red.  The punishment for changing your card is losing various amounts of recess and of course having to tell your parents you were bad.  The reward for being green all month, is candy!  Katelyn is super good at school, but a combination of being tired and competing for attention with her sister makes things touch and go at home sometimes.  (She's really good in general, but she has her moments, lol!)   So we needed something that would work at home.  Taking things away from her isn't really effective, so we needed something she could earn.  It turns out, she's REALLY excited about reading to me...I have to lay in her bed while she reads me the story after Emily is asleep.  So now, if she stays on green at home all day, she gets to read me a bedtime story and that seems to be working out pretty well!

We don't actually have a card, I just tell her what color she is on and I haven't had to change it yet.  Warning her that she's going to be on yellow has been enough, lol!  Hopefully, it keeps working for us!
